KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Thursday is exactly six months from Christmas, and people are
curious what Santa is up to this summer. Santa can get out of touch with the children very fast if he doesn't stay on top of what's happening. That is why his elves travel around the country with him, making him take a break from minding his list for some summer school.
Along with Mrs. Claus, the two attended a two-day "School 4 Santa's," presented by the International University of Santa Claus. More than 2,500 have attended the school in the past 10 years.
"You know things are always changing. Toys are always
changing. What children want year to year always changes," the jolly old
man said.
His elves have classes teaching him about the latest toys, how to
pose with children making sure families get the perfect picture.
There is even some new lingo."Santa actually does learn some slang. So when the children sit and talk in whatever slang they are using, Santa is able to communicate with the child," he said
.
Mrs. Claus learned some new tips to help out her husband.
"Sometimes they get a little antsy when they're fixing to sit
on Santa's lap, and so I can talk to them and try to calm them down," she
said.
Now graduates, the two received their Bachelor of Santa Claus
diploma, conferring a degree in Santaclausology. They also
became members of the school's alumni association, "The Red Suit Society."

"It got us excited again. After December and everything was
over with, we had a little lull in our lives," Mrs. Claus said.
Santa said it was a great experience.
"And a great time to have it, because that is when you
actually begin to plan for your Christmas season," he said.
And now Santa can get back to checking that list.
Santa's elves have a few more classes to teach before he earns his
masters and then Ph.D in Santaclausology.
